N4/N20 freeway, Zurich Western Bypass (1996 – 2012) The Zurich Western Bypass connects the existing freeway junctions of Urdorf-South in the West and Zurich-Brunau in the East with a two-way, four-lane freeway. Gotthard Base Tunnel, electromechanical installations, Switzerland (1997 – 2017) The 57 km long Gotthard Base Tunnel is the core of the AlpTransit Gotthard railway project. The tunnel consists of two parallel single track tubes, four crossovers and 178 cross cuts (approx. every 325 m). The multifunction stations of Sedrun and Faido divide the tunnel into three sections of approximately the same length. SN1.4.3 national highway, Milchbuck Tunnel, Switzerland (2004 – 2007) The safety standard of the 1.8 km long, 3-lane, two-way tunnel opened in 1985 had to be im-proved for traffic during full operation. Furthermore, the standards for fire ventilation had to be adapted to the current, much stricter policies of the Federal Roads Office (ASTRA). Replacement of the technical control system for the Swiss Railways (SBB), Switzerland (2005 – 2007) The new technical control system was based on a distributed structure for hardware and soft-ware. This minimised the risk of a loss of performance through massive upgrading on the con-trol system and optimised flexibility and clarity. GSM-R, Owner's Engineer for Swiss Railways (SBB), Switzerland (2008 – 2009) According to the requirements of the Swiss Federal Office of Transport (BAV), the signalling and control of railways has to be based on the European standard EIRNE (European Inte-grated Railway Radio Enhanced Network). This involves consistent and comprehensive radio coverage with the European standard for the GSM-R (Global System for Mobile Communica-tion – Railway). GSM-R is used for data as well as language transfer. IMMO-BOX, Owner's Engineer for Real Estate Management of the city of Zurich, Switzerland (2008 -2009) The Real Estate Management of the city of Zurich (IMMO) professionally manages and oper-ates around 2,100 buildings with a total floor area of approx. 3 million m2. Suitable measures in regard to the total energy consumption costing more than CHF 30 million can lead to sav-ings of approx. CHF 1.5 million. |
