Zurich cross city link, Zurich main station, Switzerland (2004 – 2013) As part of the cross city link project of the Swiss Federal Railways, the city of Zurich builds an underground connection between the new Löwenstrasse station and the existing Shopville underground shopping centre. Zurich cross city link, Löwenstrasse station, Switzerland (2000 – 2013) As part of the construction works for the Löwenstrasse underground through station, the existing historical buildings of Zurich main station have to be crossed. The cross hall area is situated above the through station, at the eastern end of section 2, and forms the interface to the adjacent section 3 (Weinberg tunnel). Cross city link Altstetten – Zurich main station – Oerlikon, Switzerland (2000 – 2013), Section 2 – Löwenstrasse station / section 3 – Weinbergtunnel The newly built, 9.6 km long track of the Zurich cross city link is divided into 4 sections. Section 2 comprises the Löwenstrasse underground through station with four tracks and two 420 m long platforms. The 4.8 km long, dual-track Weinberg tunnel with escape and rescue tunnel system forms section 3 and connects the main station with the railway cutting in Oerlikon (section 4).
